Coco peat  is made from coconut husks and has absolutely no nutrition in it but has excellent water retention capacity. It is added to soil in order to retain more moisture for the plants .Coco peat  reduces the weight on your balcony/terrace. Coco peat is available in a compressed block of 1 kg and 5 kg block. It looks like a solid brick. Soak it in water until it expand in size and become powdery.It is easy to use and carry.The husk of coconuts used to be a waste product just a couple of decades ago. It is now one of the thrust areas for export for the Coir Board of India.
